Find Newer Richer Experiences in 2020

Sometimes, if we’re lucky we travel to a destination that is so beautiful we retain a picture in our minds forever. Being in a gorgeous place creates Well Being. Consider  French Polynesia as an example, five archipelagoes in the south-central Pacific Ocean. Traveling to this part of the world is about shimmering blue water, verdant landscapes, dramatic volcanos, a dazzling underwater world, and a gentle sky. Beholding and experiencing beauty impacts our mind, body and spirit.

Impossible to truly grasp, the world is full of exquisite alluring destinations including stand-out warm beach places, memorable arctic cold weather locations, on the water, in the dessert, architecturally stunning, urban, rural, isolated, dense, natural and man-made. Still Forbes , Conde` Nast Traveler, U.S.News and World Report and many other publications publish and inspire us every year with “The Most Beautiful Places in the World” images and lists.

Luckily, even when we don’t get to travel, loveliness is all around us. And it’s not always about a place. Nature offers visual treats. Our interactions with others provide solace and joy as well. Well- designed physical objects grab our attention. Art inspires us. Young babies (like my nieces’ children) remind us of goodness: “Life is beautiful; Life is wondrous” (Keb Mo) We just need to notice!

Noticing. It’s about our senses, seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, and touching. Even living in a place like Denver with big skies and an endless mountain range, or near the dramatic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, or across the Hudson with glittering views of the Big Apple, we can take what’s right in front of us for granted.

Beholding beauty also does not have to be grandiose.  A pretty room or table, piece of ripened fruit, a rose or fresh-picked tomato can create pause. Pausing and noticing.  Looking.  Appreciating.

Noticing. It’s about our thoughts and emotions and not letting them “take over” thereby distracting us from the positive and good. How often does a negative bias enter in to your attitude?  When noticing an errant emotion, an outlier, we can re-frame.

Noticing means we:
  • Slow down.  Pause.
  • Incorporate mindfulness practices into our daily routine (Check out Search Inside Yourself)
  • Live as A Traveler, present and relishing where we are.
Even so, when the occasion arises, traveling to experience beauty is a good enough reason to go somewhere. A “beauty” trip creates wellness. Please let us know if we can create an itinerary for you.

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste it, to experience to the utmost,
to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
